So I did a search and maybe I didnt go back far enough , but do you guys have a map of where NOT to run on tawakoni ?
me and my son were out there saturday in the wind and running what appeared to be an open lane on the CMAP until it looked like we were in trouble , I shut it down to idle and raised the motor because trees started appearing everywhere that were hidden before . after what took nearly an hour to idle out of the trees I was a little puckered up .
any help would be appreciated , I do not know that lake very well and we have a high school tournament there in the spring and I need to learn safe navigation to keep my anglers safe during the prefishing and tournament

thank you guys in advance

Just an old country boy fishing , hunting , camping or just boating around exploring the backwaters most people do not venture & running around in our little bass boat teaching the next generation all I know about bass fishing and competing in the high school tournaments ( THSBA )

I’ve been on it three times in the past year for HS tournaments and practice and it is fairly open on the main lake from Hawk Cove area south. on the western arms its pretty stumpy. We had to idle anywhere west of the 751 bridge. Even on the main lake points there are going to be stumps.
The stumps aren’t the worst of it though, it doesn’t take much wind out of a southerly direction to whip it into a frenzy. We were there on out first trip and had south winds about 10 to 15 mph and I hit a wave so hard on the main lake I tore my gimbal mounted console fish finder completely off the boat, luckily the cables held it enough for me to grab it.
I noticed all the locals and guides run offshore or bay boats and there is a real good reason for that, if you ran it in a bass boat much at all you’d probably wind up swamping it.

Here is the map that has been circulating for years.

that map is only half of the dangers. for example, going into Hickory there is a huge rock wall on the right that is probably 1-2′ under the surface now… and there are trees on the left and right as you go in. gotta zig zag.

Get the tom mayne chip…… its worth every penny! and it has the cut across through the middle of the lake from the state park to the east bank that very few know about. will get you there first, as most the others run south past wolf point then cut across to cedar cove

I’ve never been on tawakoni.

The yellow dots that represent danger are very random and isolated.

Are these individual structures that will cause major problems?
