29 & counting… Wind River Canyon Whitewater & Fly Fishing has been floating this beautiful river for 29 years! Established in 1992, WRCW&F is a 100% American Indian owned business. They are the only commercial outfitter permitted by the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes to offer guided float trips in the Wind River Canyon.
The Wind River begins in the upper reaches of the eastern slope of Wyoming’s Wind River Range. A tiny creek well above an elevation of 10,000 feet, the Wind grows in volume and stature, winding its way south and east onto the Wind River Indian Reservation; as the river continues its journey far from its humble beginnings, it makes an abrupt turn to the north emptying into Boysen Reservoir, where it builds up a full head of steam then plunges into the Wind River Canyon just south of Thermopolis, WY. As the river winds its way through the canyon it transforms, creating incredible whitewater rapids, beautiful long riffles, smooth pools, and deep runs, all of which equals amazing habitat for unbelievably large trout. Upon leaving the Wind River Indian Reservation at the end of the canyon, the river enters the Big Horn Basin, and at the “Wedding of the Waters” the river changes names and the Big Horn River begins.
Wind River Canyon Whitewater & Fly Fishing is the exclusive outfitter permitted by the Shoshone and Arapaho Tribes: Schedule a trip with us and we will show you what makes the Wind River a special and unrivaled river.
