Has anyone been lately? Is the white bass run over? I’m thinking about doing some social distancing next week and was thinking about heading down there. How’s the fishing for other species? Bass, crappie or catfish? Thanks for any replies!

It’s crowded.. But still better than in the city.
This time of year is almost always good. Catfish should be good with the water getting muddy if these thunderstorms pop up as predicted. Walk down river from the boat launch and fish the mouth of the big spring/creek. Whites should be in the clear creek water and cats out where it mixes with river.
PB flathead 34.5 lbs – I know it’s small but it was still the record for Lake Travis when I caught it! PB Blue 58.5 lbs jugline 43.5 lbs on R&R which was the other Lake Travis record when caught.

Thanks for the info. I’ve never been there before so this is kind of a recon trip if I go. All those thunderstorms in the forecast have me thinking of waiting a week or so before I go. What are the best baits for sandies? Small traps, crappie jigs/roadrunner type baits?

1/8 oz crappie jigs have worked best for me .

We were up there on Saturday, right as the rains let up. Water was pretty muddy. We caught about 12 each on meps and roadrunners. All of them males. Didn’t see a single other soul fishing. I was going to make the drive again this weekend, but moot point with the closures.
With the water so muddy, the footing was pretty treacherous. I tripped or stepped into holes several times and filled up my waders with about a gallon of water.
